Check The Article Out For Yourself…Link Below

I found this article to be very interesting! And the comments even more interesting!
There is some truth to it all… there is a lack of Blacks in television, minorities period.
And I can see others views as well…85 % of the NBA is Black and they get more then plenty news coverage.
It is time for Blacks to own something to call our own…not only in entertainment, but in news rooms around the country, behind the senses, writing, marketing and all aspects of media to provide our people will dignified representation.
Somehow more blacks need to get oppourtunities to work behind the scenes and move into positions of management and positions of power to both create diverse newsroom and control the images going out.
ReplyDeleteI Agree.
ReplyDeleteThats actually funny that the article say that. I feel as though there is a lot of Blacks represented on television. The question would be, are they represented well? Actually a better question than that would be are they representing themselves well.
ReplyDeleteI say that because when I see anyone acting in a manner that i disagree with, I never feel like they represent me. Unless your my family, I don't see myself getting easily embarrassed by someone else's foolishness. I represent myself, and no one else. Honestly its funny that some (i do mean just some) black people hate how they are portrayed on television, but if you feel like that's what represents you, then I would say Black Entertainment Television is one of the worst representations, and that's what black people wanna put out there.
but i do understand that everyone is not included in the examples that I gave.
I agree with what you are saying. Yes, it is very important for Blacks in entertainment to be very self efficient. However, I feel that it is important for us not to attempt to break off and create new platforms for black representation or minority representation but to hold the foundations that are in place to a higher regard. Take for example BET which is suppose to be BLACK ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION, entertainment streches far beyond music, however that network is flooded with shows dedicated to promoting music. The continue to rerun the same "black" movies. Now, they have created a sister station which is Centric to represent everything I though BET was suppose to respresent. Why are these networks not supporting black sitcoms. BET can play reruns of everybody hates chris all day long, but they couldnt pick up the show on their network when it was cancelled. I cant see the rational. We as viewers should demand more. Simple and plan.
